How to Find Things to Do Tonight Near Your College Campus
A practical playbook for finding things to do tonight near campus: where events get posted, how to check them fast and how to get your friends on board.

"There's nothing to do tonight" is almost never true on a college campus. Something is nearly always happening: a free concert, a club meeting with free food, trivia, a game, a show downtown, a late-night deal. The problem is that it's spread across a dozen calendars, Instagram accounts and group chats.
This is a practical playbook for finding the move on any campus, fast.
Step 1: Start with one live board, not ten tabs
The quickest way to answer "what's happening tonight?" is a feed that collects everything near you and sorts it by time. That's what TONIGHT does for 13 campuses in Florida and Georgia. Each campus has its own wall of events: shows, games, free campus events, food deals, fitness and nights out. Every listing has the time, the place and a link to where it came from.
Pick your school and use the filters:
- Time ruler: what's on now, after class, at dinner, at pregame time or at midnight.
- Moods: "go out", "meet people", "eat something", "move around".
- Free: only the things that cost nothing.

Step 2: Know where events actually get posted
If your school isn't on TONIGHT yet, or you want to dig deeper, these are the sources that reliably have dates and times:
- Your university's events calendar. Most schools have one central calendar (often at calendar.yourschool.edu or events.yourschool.edu) covering lectures, performances, career events and student activities.
- Your career center. Career fairs, employer panels and workshops are often in the evening, and often have free food.
- Recreation and fitness. Rec centers post group fitness schedules for the whole semester: yoga, cycling, HIIT, intramurals.
- Performing arts centers and music schools. Student recitals and ensemble concerts are often free.
- Athletics schedules. Home games are some of the biggest nights of the semester, and some non-football sports are free for students.
- Venue websites and ticketing. Bars, music venues and breweries post their weekly nights on their own sites and on ticketing apps.
- Local listings. City event pages and local weeklies (like Flagpole in Athens) cover concerts and community events.
Step 3: Check four things before you go
Whatever you find, check these before you leave:
- Is it actually today, and at what time? Recurring events skip weeks. Open the original listing.
- Is there a cover or a ticket? Some events are free and some aren't. TONIGHT shows the cover when the venue posts one.
- Is there an age rule? Bars and some shows are 18+ or 21+. Bring an ID.
- How are you getting home? Sort the ride before you go, not at 1:45 AM.
Step 4: Use "tonight" as a filter, not a deadline
The best nights are often the ones you decide on at 6 PM. A few habits make that easier:
- Check at the same time every day. A quick look after class tells you what's worth keeping your night open for.
- Look at weeknights. Weeknights usually have the most free campus events and the most low-key things like trivia, open mics and game nights.
- Follow recurring nights. Most bars and many campus groups run the same night every week. Once you know your favorites, you always have a backup plan.
Step 5: Bring your people
Most plans fall apart in the group chat, not because of what's on. Two features help:
- See where your friends are going. On TONIGHT you can add friends and see the plans they choose to share (never their location), then join them in one tap.
- Let the group vote. "What's the move?" lets you pick two to four options and send a voting link to the chat. Nobody needs an account to vote.
